My name is Amy Nahill,
. I am a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College with a Bachelors Degree in History. This is my third year at Tennessee Christian Academy. I teach American and World History, Geography, American Government, and Economics.
7th grade Social Studies is a study of World Geography and uses Holt, Rinehart,
Winston World Geography textbook. The beginning of the year highlights
the physical and human aspects of the study of geography. The remainder of
the year will focus on the various regions of the world with a look at the
physical and human features that define those region. HRW World Geography
meets Tennessee State Standards.
8th Grade American History uses the A Beka curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. It focuses on the history of America from discovery to the late twentieth century and is supplemented by Western Hemisphere Geography Studies and Civics Studies.
World Geography uses Bob Jones curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. Students will take a tour of eight culture regions and 184 countries while studying the earth, its people, and its resources as God crated them. Lessons emphasize the principles of geography and have a strong biblical basis.
World History uses the Bob Jones curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. Students will see historical events from Creation to modern times in the light of God’s Word. The ministry of the church is emphasized, and politics, economics, and arts and sciences are discussed.
United States History uses the Bob Jones curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. Students will uncover the history of our nation through this comprehensive survey rich in Christian insight. The study focuses on the causes of events, the strains on the Union, and the issues behind the actions that have shaped United States history.
American Government uses the Bob Jones curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. This study helps prepare students for responsible citizenship with a discussion of the principles and mechanics of a constitutional republic. Material discussed includes the Constitution, political parties, elections, pressure groups, citizenship, and more, all from a biblical perspective.
Economics uses the Bob Jones curriculum. that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. Students are lead through an investigation of how basic economic principles work at home, in businesses, in financial markets and in government. This course stresses free market ideas and Christian economic values.
