My name is Angie Kesley, . I
am a graduate of UTC with a Bachelors Degree. This is my
11th year at Tennessee Christian Academy. I teach Science,
Family Consumer Science, and Criminology.
The middle science program uses the Prentice Hall curriculum. This curriculum includes lab zone activities, at home activities, and projects. It also, includes activities for differentiated learners. At the end of each chapter standardized test prep is included.
7th and 8th Grade Science is a researched based curriculum that covers the standards set forth by the state of Tennessee. 7th grade includes life science topics such as heredity and reproduction, cell structures and function, and photosynthesis. Other topics included deal with earth science such as weather and meteorology, as well as, physical science topics such as matter and mass. 8th grade includes life science topics such as biomes; earth science topics such as earth and space, minerals and rocks, and energy resources; and physical science topics such as matter, gravity, and simple machines.
Family Consumer Science is an elective that incorporates life skills such as cooking, family life (dating, marriage, children), and choosing and preparing for a career. Various field trips and guest speakers are included to enhance the experience. Various curriculums are used including Abeka.
Criminology is an elective that incorporates the study of forensic science. Students are involved in the process of collecting and processing evidence. Many careers are explored through this science. Various field trips and guest speakers are included. Forensic Casebook and Forensics for Dummies as well as other sources are used as the curriculum for the class.
