Dear Parents,
The basketball season is underway. All six of our teams have begun practicing and games are just around the corner. As everyone knows, these 4 months could be a little crazy. We have 8 very dedicated coaches who are sacrificing their time to make sure that we have a great season. With only 1 gym, flexibility will be our motto (we are currently looking for other places to practice). The elementary game schedule is being made and as soon as I have it, I will post it on the website and put a copy in your hand. The league requires that each child have a medical release waiver and birth certificate turned in before our first game; our deadline is November 9th. I am ordering uniforms this week so please make sure that your coach knows the correct size for your child. The $60 fee that helps to cover the cost of uniforms, officials, equipment, and end of the year awards is due on November 9th.
It is my goal as Athletic Director to build a successful competitive athletic program. In order to achieve this goal I need your help. As a parent of elementary children it will be your commitment and sacrifice that will make the difference between success and completion. Any school can get a group of kids together and complete a season. I would like to see our students succeed. It is the goal of the coaching staff for the players to learn the game of basketball, learn what it means to be a part of a team, to learn sportsmanship and as a result of their hard work win basketball games. In order for this to happen we need you to encourage punctuality, attendance, respect, and a positive hardworking attitude. I can remember as a child the days I did not want to go to practice. I would beg my Mom to let me stay home, but to my dismay she always made me go. Looking back I can thank my parents for instilling all of the great qualities that make my adulthood successful. They encouraged punctuality, dedication, sportsmanship, hard work, and respect. Your coaches will look for these qualities in your children and a team full of these qualities will be a successful one.
Thank you for choosing to be a part of the TCA athletic program. Thank you in advance for the sacrifice that your family will make. Because of you, this is going to be a great season! I cannot wait to share a bag of popcorn with you at the game as we cheer our heads off for the Mighty Hawks. So… Go Hawks!
